“Deepwater Horizon” is an exciting disaster film based on the true story of the 2010 oil rig explosion and subsequent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. This thriller was tightly directed by Peter Berg (“Battleship” 2012) – few dull moments in the 107 minute running time.
The stars of the show include Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell, John Malkovich, Gina Rodriguez, Dylan O’Brien, Kate Hudson, Ethan Suplee, and Trace Adkins. “Deepwater Horizon” was a box office bomb for producer Mark Wahlberg, Summit Entertainment, Di Bonaventura Pictures, and Lionsgate Films. It was filmed in New Orleans, and received two Oscar nods for sound editing and visual effects.
