My Review

“The Legend of Tarzan” is the latest movie in a long line of movies based on the fictional character Tarzan first published in 1912 by famed writer Edgar Rice Burroughs. And not a good one, either. David Yates (the final four “Harry Potter” films) and screenwriters Adam Cozad and Craig Brewer have put together a motion picture with a muddled plot, a very slow pace, and dreadful performances.

The cast is headed by Alexander Skarsgard as John Clayton III/Tarzan and Margot Robbie as Jane Porter Clayton, who underwhelm the audience with their sluggish offerings. Co-stars include Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, Djimon Hounsou, Jim Broadbent, and Ben Chaplin. “The Legend of Tarzan” was a box office disappointment, as it barely brought in enough money to cover the large production budget and the expensive marketing. Not good news for Jerry Weintraub Productions, Village Road Show Pictures, and Warner Bros. Pictures. It was filmed in England, Wales, Italy, and Gabon.
