Masterminds (2016)

My Review

“Masterminds” is a comedy film about a group of guys planning a bank robbery and the bumbling that goes on carrying out their nefarious scheme. The terrible direction by Jared Hess (“Nacho Libre” 2006) and the astonishingly bad writing by Chris Bowman, Hubbel Palmer, and Emily Spivey are typical of producer Lorne Michaels’ film projects. His success with television’s “Saturday Night Live” has never translated on to the big screen.

The cast is filled with SNL employees and others, including Zach Galifianakis, Kristen Wiig, Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, and David Ratray, who gained fame as Buzz McCallister in “Home Alone”(1990) and “Home Alone 2” (1992). “Masterminds” was a box office dud for Michaels/Goldwyn and Relativity Studios. Our advise – Skip the boring and unwatchable “Masterminds” so you do not go out of your mind!
