I’m Not Ashamed (2016)

My Review

The story of a modern-day Christian martyr is told in “I’m Not Ashamed.” It is the story of Rachell Joy Scott, the first victim of the 1999 Columbine High School massacre in Littleton, Colorado. Actress Masey McLain, in her big screen debut, brought her to life with incredible nuance, accurately conveying Scott’s deep Christian faith.

The screenplay by Bodie Thoene, Robin Hanely, Philipa Booyens, and Kari Redmond was based on the 2001 book “The Journals of Rachel Joy Scott” by Rachel Joy Scott. Director Brian Baugh expertly constructed this film with excellent production values. He even included a subplot on the shooters. This is a fast-moving 112 minute motion picture.

The cast is made up of Masey McLain, Ben Davies, Jennifer O’Neill, Nancy Stafford, Jaci Velasquez, Sadie Robertson, Korie Robertson, and Bella Robertson. “I’m Not Ashamed” was barely profitable in theatrical release for Pure Flix Entertainment, Visible Pictures, and Big Film Factory. It was filmed in Nashville, Tennessee, filling in for the setting of Littleton, Colorado.
