Inferno (2016)

My Review

“Inferno” is the third installment of the Robert Langdon movie mysteries where the famous Harvard symbologist wakes up with amnesia in a Florence hospital. When he realizes what is going on, he immediately teams up with his doctor to stop a kooky billionaire from releasing a global plague. Director Ron Howard did a much better job with part three than he did with the duller and plodding predecessors – “The DaVinci Code” (2006) and “Angels and Demons” (2009).

The lean screenplay by David Koepp was adapted from the 2013 book of the same name by Dan Brown. Filming locations in Italy added to the film’s high quality, with magnifico cinematography by Salvatore Totino. Also worth mentioning is the classy musical score composed by Hans Zimmer. Tom Hanks returns as Langdon with Felicity Jones, Omar Sy, Ben Foster, Irrfan Khan, Paul Ritter, Ana Ularu, and Sidse Babett Knudsen as the head of the World Health Organization. “Inferno” made a modest profit in theatrical release for producers Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, Columbia Pictures, Imagine Entertainment, LStar Capital, and Sony Pictures Releasing.
