Michelle Yeoh stars as Emperor Philippa Georgiou who is recruited by Section 31 to help stop a dangerous biological super weapon from destroying the universe in “Star Trek: Section 31.” Director Oletunde Osunsanmi and screenwriter Craig Sweeney put together this Star Trek film which has terrible writing, a confusing plotline, bad acting, and inane dialogue. This is the 14th film in the “Star Trek” franchise and is a disgrace to the heritage of fine productions in the tradition of creator Gene Roddenberry, Harve Bennett, Rick Berman, and J. J. Abrams. It is a spin-off of the equally trashy “Star Trek: Discovery” television series (2017-2024).
The cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Omari Hardwick, Sam Richardson, Robert Kazinsky, Kacey Rohl, James Hiroyuki Liao, Humberly Gonzalez, Joe Pingue, and a cameo by Jamie Lee Curtis as Control. “Star Trek: Section 31” was released on Paramount+ streaming on January 24, 2025, from CBS Studios and Roddenberry Entertainment. It received five Golden Raspberry Awards nominations – Worst Picture, Worst Actress (Yeoh), Worst Supporting Actress (Rohl), Worst Director, Worst Screenplay.
