“The Cloverfield Paradox” is the story of a group of astronauts aboard the space station who try to solve the world’s energy crisis by using a “particle accelerator” and realize almost immediately that the planet has simply vanished. The unlikely scifi drama proceeds from there, horribly directed by Julius Onah (“The Girl is in Trouble” 2015) from a poorly written screenplay by Oren Uziel. The film has a confusing storyline with terrible dialogue, making for a very long 102 minute running time.
The cast includes Gugu Mbatha Raw, David Oyelowo, Elizabeth Debicki, Roger Davies, Chris O’Dowd, John Ortiz, Daniel Bruhl, and Aksel Hennie. “The Cloverfield Paradox” debuted on the Netflix digital platform, from producer J. J. Abrams and Paramount Pictures. It was filmed in Los Angeles, mostly at Paramount Studios in Hollywood. This was the third in the series which includes “Cloverfield” (2008) and “10 Cloverfield Lane” (2016).
