My Review

“One Hundred and One Dalmatians” is an animated comedy film about two Dalmatian dogs Pongo and Perdita who give birth to a litter of 15 Dalmatian puppies. Neighbor Cruella de Vil offers to buy them, but the owners refuse to sell, and Cruella is out for revenge. The drama and comedy proceeds from there, well directed by Hamilton Luske, Clyde Geronimi, and Wolfgang Reitherman. The screenplay by Bill Peet was based on the 1956 novel of the same name by Dodie Smith.

The voice cast includes Rod Taylor as Pongo, Lisa Daniels as Perdita, J. Pat O’Malley, Tim Conway, Lisa Davis, Ben Wright, Martha Wentworth, Tudor Owen, and Betty Lou Gerson as Cruella de Vil. “One Hundred and One Dalmatians” was the eighth highest grossing film of 1961 for producer Walt Disney, Walt Disney Productions, and Buena Vista Distribution. Numerous remakes, sequels, and television programs have come out over the years.
