My Review

“We’re the Millers” is a comedy road film about a small-time pot dealer who takes on a job which involves smuggling two tons of marijuana from Mexico into the U. S. He realizes he would have a higher chance of success if he has a family, so he hires a stripper and two teenagers to pose as his wife and kids. The laughs proceed from there, capably directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (“Central Intelligence” 2016) from a screenplay by Bob Fisher, Steve Faber, Sean Anders, and John Morris. Much of the humor is low-brow, with too many F-bombs, and a formulaic plot.

The cast turns out solid comedic performances, headed by the always-professional Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis. Co-stars include Ed Helms as the drug kingpin, Nick Offerman as a DEA agent, Emma Roberts and Will Poulter as the teenagers, Kathryn Hahn as DEA agent’s wife, Molly C. Quinn as their daughter, Luis Guzman as a Mexican cop, Tomer Sisley as a Mexican drug lord, and Sam Richardson as the TSA agent. “We’re the Millers” was a big hit at the box office for New Line Cinema, Heyday Films, and Warner Bros. Pictures. It was filmed in North Carolina and New Mexico.
