Winds of the Wastelands (1936)

My Review

“Winds of the Wastelands” is the story of two Pony Express riders who lose their jobs when the transcontinental telegraph network replaces them. They then decide to start their own stagecoach business, but run into numerous complications in the Old West of 1861. Director Mack V. Wright and screenwriter Joseph F. Poland put together this 54 minute B-Western which doesn’t have the best production values but did provide adequate entertainment at the Saturday matinees.

The stars of the show are John Wayne, Phyllis Fraser, Douglas Cosgrove, Lane Chandler, Sam Flint, Bob Kortman, Jon Hall, Jack Rockwell, and Lew Kelly as the Mayor. “Winds of the Wastelands” was a production from Paul Malvern Productions and Republic Pictures.
