The Lawless Frontier (1934)

My Review

John Wayne plays a cowboy who helps out an old prospector friend and his granddaughter from having their cattle ranch stolen by a gang of rustlers in “The Lawless Frontier.” The heavy drama proceeds from there, well written and directed by Robert N. Bradbury.

The cast includes John Wayne as the cowboy, George “Gabby” Hayes as the old prospector, Sheila Terry as Ruby, Jack Rockwell as the sheriff, Earl Dwire as the heavy of the piece, Yakima Canutt and Jay Wilsey as his henchmen, and Gordon De Main as the deputy sheriff. “The Lawless Frontier” is an exciting 59 minute black-and-white film short from producer Paul Malvern, Lone Star Productions, and Monogram Pictures.
