Jupiter Ascending (2015)

My Review

“Jupiter Ascending” is a science fiction film about a Russian immigrant to America who is an exact duplicate of her alien ancestor who was intergalactic royalty. Different outer space royal families begin battling over her for the control of Earth. The lame drama proceeds from there, horribly written and directed by Lana Wachowski and Lily Wachowski. The film has terrible production values, atrocious writing, and lousy performances.

The cast includes Canning Tatum, Mila Kunis, Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne, James D’Arcy, Tim Piggott-Smith, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Terry Gilliam. “Jupiter Ascending” was a major flop at the box office for Village Roadshow Pictures, RatPac-Dune Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Pictures. It was filmed in the UK, the US, and Spain. The film was nominated for six Golden Raspberry Awards, winning one for Worst Supporting Actor (Redmayne). It should have been called “Jupiter Descending.”
