Far from the Madding Crowd (2015)

My Review

“Far from the Madding Crowd” is a Victorian romantic drama about a young woman who inherits a farm while pursued by three very different suitors. Danish director Thomas Vinterberg chose very boring subject matter in this material adapted from the 1874 novel by Thomas Hardy. The film is nothing more than an obnoxious feminist statement from the book, and the screenplay written by David Nicholls.

The cast includes Carey Mulligan, Matthias Schoenaerts, Michael Sheen, Tom Sturridge, Jessica Barden, and Juno Temple as Fanny. “Far from the Madding Crowd” experienced mild success in the art house cinema circuit for BBC Films, DNA Films, and Fox Searchlight Pictures. It was filmed in England.
