My Review

Helen Mirren delivers an outstanding performance as Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir in the biopic “Golda.” Israeli director Guy Nattiv (“Skin” 2018) and screenwriter-producer Nicholas Martin put together a film depicting the actions of Israel’s fourth prime minister in the Yom Kippur War of Oct. 6-25, 1973, when Egypt and Syria, supported by the Soviet Union, attempted to invade Israel.

The supporting cast includes Liev Schreiber as Henry Kissinger, Ohad Knoller as Ariel Sharon, Rami Hueberger as Moshe Dayan, as well as Camille Cottin, Emma Davies, Rotem Keinan, Lior Ashkenazi, Dominic Mafham, Ed Stoppard, Jamie Ray Newman, and Dvir Benedek. The watchable “Golda” was not successful at the box office for Piccadilly Pictures, Embarkment Films, Qwerky Films, Bleeker Street, ShivHans Pictures, and Vertical Entertainment. It was nominated for one Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
