Poker Face (2022)

My Review

Director-screenwriter Russell Crowe stars in his own “thriller” movie as a tech billionaire who holds a poker game for his close friends, which is disrupted by thieves breaking into his home to steal valuable art from his personal collection. The poorly written and unfocused script combined with sloppy direction by Crowe make this a confusing film to watch. Despite a flurry of activity, people moving around, etc., viewers have a difficult time discerning what is going on. However, this could be enough to entertain some audiences.

The mostly Australian cast behind Crowe includes Liam Hemsworth, RZA, Aden Young, Steve Bastoni, Daniel MacPherson, Brooke Satchwell, Paul Tassone, Jacqueline McKenzie, Elsa Pataky, and Jack Thompson. “Poker Face” was a big flop at the box office during its “limited theatrical release” and then “streaming on demand” for Sky UK Limited, Stan, and Screen Media Ventures. It was filmed in Australia.
