Miracle Mile (1988)

My Review

“Miracle Mile” is the story of two people living and working in Los Angeles when they find out that nuclear war is about to break out. Director-screenwriter Steve De Jarnatt put together an indie film with fair production values and acceptable writing, which passes as an entertaining escapist apocalyptic thriller. Stars Anthony Edwards and Mare Winningham play people who have trouble getting out of town when they find out about about the coming nuclear holocaust in the middle of the night.

The supporting cast includes John Agar, Mykelti Williamson, Denise Crosby (granddaughter of Bing Crosby), Kelly Jo Minter, Kurt Fuller, Brian Thompson, Alan Rosenberg, Earl Boen, Peter Berg. The watchable “Miracle Mile,” named after the neighborhood along Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles, where it was filmed, was a big flop at the box office for Miracle Mile Productions and Hemdale Film Corporation.
