First Blood (1982)

My Review

“First Blood” is an action film where Sylvester Stallone plays a troubled Vietnam veteran who wanders into a small town and soon experiences trouble with local law enforcement. The suspense holds through most of the film due to focused direction by Ted Kotcheff (“Fun with Dick and Jane” 1977) and a tight screenplay by Michael Kozell, William Sackheim, and Stallone.

The three principal stars of the show deliver riveting performances: Brian Dennehy, Richard Crenna, and Stallone, whose dramatic scenes later in the film demonstrates he has some unexpected wide range as an actor. Co-stars include Bill McKinney, Jack Starrett, Michael Talbott, Chris Mulkey, John McLiam, Alf Humphreys, and David Caruso. The watchable “First Blood” was successful at the box office for Carolco Pictures, The Wallis Interactive, and Orion Pictures. It was filmed in British Columbia, Canada.
