My Review

“Thunderbolts” is the newest Marvel Studios superhero group out to save the world in this 36th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Director Jake Schreier (“Paper Towns” 2015) and screenwriters Eric Pearson and Joanna Calo put together a new and quirky group of superheroes for Disney’s money-making machine called Marvel Studios.

The stars include Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell (son of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn) as John Walker/U. S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, David Harbour as Red Guardian, and Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost. Co-stars include Lewis Pullman as Bob Reynolds/Sentry/Void (the heavy of the piece), Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (the head of the CIA who brings the Thunderbolts together), Chris Bauer, Wendell Pierce, and Geraldine Viswanathan.

The watchable “Thunderbolts” is doing very well at the box office for producer Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, and The Walt Disney Company. The Thunderbolts are being rebranded as the New Avengers, no doubt for future sequels. So far, the film is the fifth highest grossing motion picture of 2025.
