My Review

“Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein” is a comedy-horror picture where Bud Abbot and Lou Costello play baggage handlers who deliver a pair of crates to a wax museum. Unbeknownst to them, the crates contain Dracula and Frankenstein’s monster. All sorts of wacky and zany comedy proceeds from there, well-managed by director Charles Barton (“Smooth as Silk” 1946) from a screenplay written by Robert Lees, Frederic I. Rinaldo, and John Grant.

The cast with Abbott and Costello includes Lon Chaney Jr. as the Wolf Man, Bela Lugosi as Dracula, Vincent Price as the voice of the Invisible Man, Glenn Strange as the monster, Lenore Aubert, Jane Randolph, Frank Furgeson, and Charles Bradstreet as the doctor. The watchable laugh-fest “Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein” was a huge hit at the box office for Universal Pictures. This is one of 36 feature films the pair made together between 1940 and 1956, mostly for Universal Studios.
