“Blink Twice” is billed as a psychological thriller about a waitress invited to a vacation at a billionaire’s island. At first things go swimmingly but then strange things begin to happen, and she wonders if she will make it out alive. Zoe Kravitz was in charge in her directorial debut, and turned what could have been an exciting heavy drama into an amateurish melodrama with cheap gore and multiple stabbings which come across as fake. She co-wrote the script with E. T. Feigenbaum.
The terrible performances by cast is another factor, which includes Channing Tatum as the rich guy, Naomi Ackie and Alia Shawhat as two main guests, Christian Slater as his business partner, Haley Joel Osment as a former child actor, Geena Davis as Tatum’s personal assistant, Kyle MacLachlan as a friend, and Zoe Kravitz, apparently trying to be another Alfred Hitchcock, in a cameo as a flight attendant.
The unwatchable “Blink Twice” barely broke even at the box office for producers Zoe Kravitz and Channing Tatum, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Free Association Production Company, Bold Choices Productions, Amazon MGM Studios, and Warner Bros. Pictures. It was filmed on location in Yucatan, Mexico.
