My Review

“Honk for Jesus, Save Your Soul” takes a look at some the excesses of megachurches from director-screenwriter Adamma Ebo in her directorial debut. The film is fairly neutral in its inside view of a pastor and his wife attempting to reopen their church after a scandal caused most of the members to leave.

The cast includes Sterling K. Brown and Regina Hall in the lead roles, with a generally African-American cast including Conphidance, Austin Crute, Nicole Baharie, Devere Rogers, and Avis-Marie Barnes. The so-so “Honk for Jesus, Save Your Soul” was a flop at the box office for Monkeypaw Productions, Pinky Promise, and Focus Features. It was filmed in and around the Atlanta, Georgia, area.
