My Review

Indiana Jones and his friends flee Shanghai, China, and end up in India where they help a village recover a sacred stone and attempt to free their children from a cult in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.” Executive producer George Lucas and director Steven Spielberg did an excellent job of putting together this second in the “Indiana Jones” pictures which is also a stand-alone prequel, set in 1935. The script was written by Willard Huyck and Gloria Katz.

The cast includes Harrison Ford as Jones, Kate Capshaw as singer Willie Scott, Ke Huy Quan as Short Round, Amrish Puri, Roshan Seth, Philip Stone, and David Yip in his film debut. The watchable “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” was a huge hit at the box office for Lucasfilm Ltd. and Paramount Pictures, the third highest grossing picture of 1984. It won one Academy Award for Best Visual Effect and one other nomination for Best Original Score (John Williams). A sequel would follow in 1989 called “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.”
