“Jingle All the Way” is a family comedy movie about two fathers on Christmas Eve desperately trying to purchase a popular action figure toy called Turbo Man for their sons before the stores close. Director Brian Levant (“The Flintstones” 1994) made this entertaining, albeit formulaic, holiday film from an acceptable screenplay by Randy Kornfield.
The cast includes Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sinbad as the two fathers, Rita Wilson, Phil Hartman, Robert Conrad, Martin Mull, James Belushi, Larraine Newman, Harvey Korman, Richard Moll, Jake Lloyd, Danny Woodburn, Phil Morris, Chris Parnell, and Vern Troyer (Mini-Me of the “Austin Powers” films) as Mini-Santa. The watchable (and admittedly not Shakespeare) “Jingle All the Way” was a big hit at the box office for producer Chris Columbus, 1492 Pictures, Fox Family Films, and 20th Century Fox.
It was mostly filmed in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, with some scenes shot at Universal Studios in Hollywood and around Los Angeles. “Jingle All The Way” was nominated for one Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Director. Also nominations for three Stinkers Bad Movie Awards for Most Painfully Unfunny Comedy, Worst Actor (Schwarzenegger), and Worst Supporting Actress (Wilson).
