The latest “Superman” movie has everyone’s favorite superhero losing popularity with the general public, getting into trouble not only in Metropolis but also around the world. This provides Lex Luthor with an opening to get ride of Superman for good, with reporter Lois Lane, superpet Krypto, and others springing into action to help him. Director-screenwriter James Gunn (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” 2023) has put together a more vulnerable, and hence more comical, Superman in this entertaining film with a 129 minute running time.
The cast includes David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Nathan Fillion as the Green Lantern. These new folks fit in nicely as characters we have known for decades. Co-stars include Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olson, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell as Jonathan & Martha Kent, Bradley Cooper and Angela Sarafyan as Superman’s biological parents, and dog actor Jolene played Superman’s dog Krypto.
The watchable “Superman” has done well financially at the international box office for producer James Gunn, The Safran Company, Troll Court Entertainment, DC Studios, and Warner Bros. Pictures. Filming took place in Norway, Ohio, and Georgia. A sequel titled “Man of Tomorrow” is tentatively scheduled to be released in July, 2027, starring Corenswet and Brosnahan.
