My Review

“The Gatling Gun” is a Western movie about two Army deserters who steal their unit’s gatling gun (the first machine gun) in order to attack a local Apache tribe. However, this results in both the Army and the Apaches going after them and the gun. Director Robert Gordon put together an entertaining B-movie which by definition has mediocre production values. The acceptable screenplay was written by Mark Hanna and Joseph Van Winkle.

The cast has many familiar faces such as Guy Stockwell, Robert Fuller, Barbara Luna, Woody Strode, Patrick Wayne (son of John Wayne), Pat Buttram, Carlos Rivas, John Carradine, Phil Harris, Tommy Cooke, Kalai Strode (son of Woody Strode), Steve Conte, and David Cargo as Corporal Benton. Cargo was the Governor of New Mexico when this movie was filmed. The watchable “The Gatling Gun” was a box office bomb for producer Mark Hanna, Broadway Enterprises, and Ellman Film Enterprises.
