My Review

“The Unholy Trinity” is a western action film about a young man who travels to the remote town of Trinity, Montana, to avenge his father’s murder. Upon arrival in the small hamlet, he discovers that the sheriff responsible for the dastardly deed is already dead. However, he gets caught in a feud between the new sheriff and a recalcitrant gunfighter. The heavy drama proceeds from there, unevenly directed by Richard Gray (“Robert the Bruce” 2019) from a mediocre screenplay by Lee Zachariah.

The cast is headed by Pierce Brosnan as the sheriff and Samuel L. Jackson as the mysterious gunman. The two veteran actors deliver the goods here and make the difference in a film with so-so writing and questionable production values. Co-stars include Tim Daly, David Arquette, Ethan Peck (grandson of Gregory Peck), Veronica Ferres, Brandon Lessard, Gianni Capaldi, Katrina Bowden, and Q’orianka Kilcher as Running Club.

The flawed but still exciting and watchable horse opera “The Unholy Trinity” was a flop at the box office for producer Richard Gray, AmadeuStudios, Jaggi Entertainment, High Five Films, Roadside Attractions, and Saban Films. It was filmed on location in Montana.
