My Review

“Wonder” is a family drama film telling the story of a boy with facial differences, due to Treacher Collins syndrome, who enters the fifth grade, his first time in a public school. Director Stephen Chbosky put together an inspiring and heartwarming picture with good production values, excellent performances, and a well written screenplay he wrote with Steve Conrad and Jack Thorne. It was adapted from the 2012 novel of the same name by R. J. Palacio. Filming took place in New York City and British Columbia, Canada.

The cast includes Jacob Tremblay in the lead role of Auggie Pullman, Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson as his parents, Mandy Patinkin as his principal, Sonia Braga as his grandmother, Izabela Vidovic as his sister, Daveed Diggs as his English teacher, and Noah Jupe as his best friend. The watchable “Wonder” was a hit at the box office for Participant Media, Walden Media, Mandeville Films, TIK Films, and Lionsgate Films. It was nominated for one Academy Award for Best Makeup.
