Ad Astra (2019)

My Review

“Ad Astra” is a science fiction film about an astronaut who goes on an outer space search for his lost father. Director James Grey “The Immigrant” 2013) put together a cerebral scifi movie with an interesting unfolding storyline featuring good character development. Grey co-wrote the script with Ethan Gross.

The cast includes Brad Pitt as the astronaut, Tommy Lee Jones as his father, Donald Sutherland as Colonel Pruitt, Liv Tyler as Pitt’s wife, Helen Lantos as the facility director, Loren Dean as a corporate executive, Greg Bryk as Chip, and John Ortiz, John Finn, and LisaGay Hamilton as military officials. “Ad Astra,” which means “to the stars” in Latin, was a box office bomb for producer Brad Pitt, Plan B Entertainment, Regency Enterprises, Bona Film Group, 20th Century Fox, and The Walt Disney Company. It was filmed in Santa Clarita, California.
