My Review

“American Underdog” is the true story of football player Kurt Warner and his journey from grocery story stockboy to a two-time NFL MVP and Super Bowl champion. Directors Andrew Erwin and Jon Erwin (“I Can Only Imagine” 2018) created an inspirational story of how Warner’s perseverance and faith fueled his improbable rise in the world of the National Football League. The outstanding screenplay was penned by Jon Erwin, Jon Gunn, and David Aaron Cohen.

Zachary Levi has the market cornered on this role; no one else could come close to this electric portrayal of Kurt Warner. Co-stars include Anna Paquin, Dennis Quaid, Adam Baldwin, Bruce McGill, Chance Kelly, Ser’Darius Blain, and Danny Vinson. The very watchable “American Underdog” was a modest box office success for Kingdom Story Company, Erwin Brothers Entertainment, City on a Hill Productions, and Lionsgate Films. It was filmed in Oklahoma and Texas.
