Baywatch (2017)

My Review

“Baywatch” follows lifeguard Mitch Buchannon and his team, who must take down a drug lord to save their beach. Director Seth Gordon (“Horrible Bosses” 2011) and screenwriters Damian Shannon and Mark Swift put together a so-so movie version of the popular television series which ran on NBC for two seasons and later in syndication from 1990-2001. The film does provide entertaining escapist programming especially for fans of the television show.

The cast includes Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Jon Bass, Rob Huebel, Oscar Nunez, and original cast members Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff in cameo appearances. The mediocre yet watchable “Baywatch” was a hit at the box office for The Montecito Picture Company, Freemantle Productions, and Paramount Pictures. It was filmed in Florida and Georgia, and was nominated for five Golden Raspberry Awards, winning one for “The Razzie Nominee So Rotten You Loved It.”
