Caddyshack II (1988)

My Review

“Caddyshack II” is a comedy film revisiting the infamous Bushwood Country Club (of “Caddyshack” 1980) and we discover that a new millionaire owner bought the place to retaliate for being rejected for membership. The feuds with elitist members proceeds from there, sloppily directed by Allan Arkush (“Rock ‘n’ Roll High School” 1979) from a terrible screenplay penned by Harold Ramis.

The surprisingly high-quality cast includes Robert Stack, Dyan Cannon, Dina Merrill, Jackie Mason, Jonathan Silverman, Randy Quaid, Chynna Phillips, Brian McNamara, Marsha Warfield, Mark Christopher Lawrence, Chevy Chase, and Dan Aykroyd. Although the film does have a few laughs here and there, the mostly unwatchable “Caddyshack II” was a flop at the box office for The Guber-Peters Company and Warner Bros. Pictures.

“Caddyshack II” was nominated for four Golden Raspberry Awards winning two – Worst Supporting Actor (Aykroyd) and Worst Song (“Jack Fresh” written & performed by Full Force). Non winners include Worst Picture and Worst Actor (Mason). It also won the Worst Picture at the Stinkers Bad Movie Awards. It was filmed in South Florida.
