Cinderella (2015)

My Review

“Cinderella” is the story of a young woman whose father remarries after her mother’s death, and then unexpectedly passes away himself, leaving Ella with her cruel step-mother and two step-sisters. Director Kenneth Branagh (“As You Like It” 2006) and screenwriter Chris Weitz put together a high quality remake of Walt Disney’s 1950 animated classic of the same name and the fairy tale which originated centuries ago.

The cast includes Lily James as Ella, Cate Blanchett as step-mother Lady Tremaine, Richard Madden as the prince, Helena Bonham Carter as the fairy godmother, Derek Jacobi as the king, Stellan Skarsgard as the duke, Sophie McShera and Holliday Grainger as the step-sisters, and Ben Chaplin and Haley Atwell as Ella’s biological parents. “Cinderella” was a smash hit with the movie-going public for Walt Disney Pictures and Walt Disney Studios. It was filmed in Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England.
