My Review

“Conspiracy Theory” is an entertaining story about a New York City taxi driver, obsessed with conspiracy theories, who gets into trouble with a passenger who happens to be a Justice Department official when one of his theories turns out to be true. The drama, and some romance, proceeds from there, well directed by Richard Donner (“Superman” 1978) and screenwriter Brian Helgeland.

The principal actors are the winsome pair Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts, who drive this film’s success. Both are in their prime in “Conspiracy Theory.” Co-stars include Patrick Stewart, Joan Lunden, Dean Winters, Steve Kahan, Terry Alexander, and Pete Koch as the fire captain. The watchable “Conspiracy Theory” made a mint at the box office for Warner Bros. Pictures, Silver Pictures, and Shuler Donner/Donner Productions. It was filmed in New York City and Los Angeles.
