Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

My Review

“Crazy Rich Asians” is a romantic comedy about an NYU professor who travels to Singapore with her boyfriend to attend his friend’s wedding. She is very surprised to learn that his family is very wealthy and he is Asia’s most eligible bachelor. The comedy proceeds from there, well directed by Jon M. Chu (“G. I. Joe: Retaliation” 2013) from a humorous screenplay by Peter Chairelli and Adele Lim.

The cast includes Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, Lisa Lu, Awkwafina, Ken Jeong, Michelle Yeoh, Jimmy O. Yang, Remi Hii, and Harry Shum Jr. This is the first major Hollywood production starring Asian-American actors since “The Joy Luck Club” (1993). The watchable “Crazy Rich Asians” was a big hit at the box office for SK Global, Color Force, Ivanhoe Pictures, and Warner Bros. Pictures. It was filmed in Singapore and Malaysia.
