Creed II (2018)

My Review

“Creed II” is a sports drama film which features heavyweight champion Adonis Creed fighting Viktor Drago, the son of the man who killed Adonis’ father. The movie highlights are Adonis winning the title, getting severly injured by Viktor, and Rock Balboa returning to train him for a grueling rematch. “Creed II” is solidly directed by Steven Caple Jr. (“The Land” 2016) with a lean script written by Juel Taylor and Sylvester Stallone.

This picture is a direct sequel to “Creed” (2015), and is movie number 8 in the “Rocky” franchise. The cast includes Michael B. Jordan in the title role, with co-stars Tessa Thompson, Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Florian Munteanu, Phylicia Rashad, Bridgette Nielson, Wood Harris, Russell Hornsby, Andre Ward, and Milo Ventimiglia as Rocky Balboa Jr. Cameos include Linda Cohn, Evander Holllyfield, Sugar Ray Leonard, Carl Weathers (archival footage), and Michael “Let’s get ready to rumble” Buffer.

The watchable “Creed II” was a huge hit at the box office for producer Sylvester Stallone, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, New Line Cinema, Winkler Films, and Warner Bros. Pictures. It was primarily filmed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
