Despicable Me 3 (2017)

My Review

“Despicable Me 3” continues the fun and entertaining streak which the films began in 2010 and 2013. Gru and his twin brother Dru team up to battle former 1980’s child star Balthazar Bratt, who has grown up to be a major criminal. Directors Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda have created some winsome family fare here. They were aided by screenwriters Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio, based on characters created by Sergio Pablos.

The voice cast includes Steve Carell as Gru and Dru, Kristen Wiig as Gru’s wife Lucy, Trey Parker as Bratt, Pierre Coffin as Mel and the other Minions, Steve Coogan as Silas, Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier, and Nev Scharrel as the daughters of Lucy and Gru, Jenny Slate as Da Vinci, and Julie Andrews returning as Gru and Dru’s mum from the original “Despicable Me” (2010). The watchable “Despicable Me 3” was the fourth highest grossing film of 2017 for Illumination and Universal Pictures.
