Dishonored Lady (1947)

My Review

“Dishonored Lady” is a Hedy Lamarr vehicle about a woman magazine editor who is accused of murder. This film noir story is slow-moving and not very interesting, due to sloppy direction by Robert Stevenson (“Mary Poppins” 1964) and a lackluster screenplay written by Edmund H. North.

The cast includes Hedy Lamarr, Paul Cavanagh, John Loder, Dennis O’Keefe, William Lundigan, Douglas Dumbrille, Natalie Schafer (Lovey of TV’s “Gilligan’s Island”), and Margaret Hamilton (the wicked witch of “The Wizard of Oz” 1939). “Dishonored Lady” is a sluggish 85 minute motion picture which was a flop at the box office for producer Hedy Lamarr, Hunt Stromberg Productions, Mars Film Corporation, and United Artists.
