Disney’s The Kid (2000)

My Review

Bruce Willis stars as man whose life is turned upside down when he meets the 8-year-old version of himself in “Disney’s The Kid.” Director Jon Turtletaub (“While You Were Sleeping” 1995) and screenwriter Audrey Wells put together a formulaic and far-fetched story which is unevenly written but somehow still qualifies as good escapist programming.

Bruce Willis and Spencer Breslin as the lead character turn in adequate performances. Co-stars include Lily Tomlin, Jean Smart, Chi McBride, Dana Ivey, Jeri Ryan, Larry King, Matthew Perry, Melissa McCarthy, Emily Mortimer, Stanley Anderson, Daniel von Bargen, Steve Tom, and Juanita Moore in her final film role in a career that began in 1939. The watchable “Disney’s The Kid” was a hit at the box office for Walt Disney Pictures, Junction Entertainment, Buena Vista Pictures Distribution, and The Walt Disney Company. Filming took place in and around Los Angeles, California.
