My Review

“Dog” is the story of an Army Ranger assigned the task of transporting the military dog of his fallen friend to his funeral. The pair get into trouble along the way, providing a variety of thrills, chills, and spills. Directors Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin put together a heart-warming film from a well written screenplay by Carolin. Both make their feature motion picture directorial debuts here.

Channing Tatum is also the star of the show, sharing screen time with a dog named Lulu. Tatum held his own in the scenes with his canine companion, going against W. C. Fields’ advise to “never work with children or animals.” Co-stars include Jane Adams, Kevin Nash, Q’orianka Kilcher, Ethan Suplee, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Nicole LaLiberte, Ronnie Gene Blevins, Amanda Booth, and Cayden Boyd.

The very watchable “Dog” was financially successful in theatrical release for producer Channing Tatum, FilmNation Entertainment, Free Association, United Artists, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
