Don’t Say Good Luck (2026)

My Review

“Don’t Say Good Luck” is a coming-of-age drama about a high school student who lands the lead role in her high school’s play while dealing with her mother’s cancer diagnosis. Director Julia Hart (“I’m Your Woman” 2020) put together a run-of-the-mill teenage drama filled with cliches from a mediocre screenplay she co-wrote with Laura Hankin and Jordan Horowitz.

The cast includes Sunny Sandler in the lead role, Melanie Lynskey and Max Greenfield as her parents, Bebe Neuwirth and Steve Buscemi as her grandparents, Jack Champion as her love interest, Stephanie Beatriz as the school play’s director, and Jon Lovitz as a friend of the family. “Don’t Say Good Luck” debuted on Netflix from producer Adam Sandler, Happy Madison Productions, Range Media Partners, and Netflix. Producer Sandler cast his daughter Sunny Sandler in the lead.
