“Drive” is a heist film where a movie stunt driver moonlights as a getaway driver for bank robbers. Danish director Nicholas Winding Refn (“Bronson” 2008) and screenwriter Hossein Amini put together an adequate action film based on the 2005 novel by James Sallis. It was nominated for one Academy Award for Best Sound Editing.
Acceptable performances were delivered by cast members including Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Ron Perlman, Albert Brooks, Christina Hendricks, Oscar Isaac, Kaden Leos, James Biberi, and Russ Tamblyn as Doc. The somewhat watchable “Drive” was popular at the box office for Marc Platt Productions, Bold Films, OddLot Entertainment, and Film District.
