Entebbe (2018)

My Review

“Entebbe” is an action thriller about the real-life Israeli rescue mission on July 3, 1976, of the Air France flight which had been hijacked by terrorist elements. It was a Tel Aviv to Paris flight, on a layover in Athens, when the airplane was hijacked and flown to Entebbe, Uganda. There was a large amount of Israeli citizen aboard. Brazilian director Jose Padilha (“Robo Cop” 2014) expertly assembled a fast moving and easy-to-follow thriller, with good production values, acceptable performances, and lucid writing. The screenplay was written by Gregory Burke.

The cast includes Rosamund Pike, Daniel Bruhl, Eddie Marsan as Shimon Peres, Lior Ashkenazi as Yitzhak Rabin, Nonso Anozie as Idi Amin, and Angel Bonanni as Yonatan Netanyahu. The watchable “Entebbe” (also called “7 Days in Entebbe”) was a box office failure for Participant Media, Working Title Films, and Focus Features. It was filmed in Malta and England.
