My Review

“Fahrenheit 451” is a futuristic science fiction made-for-television movie where books are illegal and history is digitally sanitized. Director Ramin Bahrani failed to transfer the excitement of the book to the big screen, due to weak direction, lackluster production values, and mediocre writing. Bahrani co-wrote the teleplay with Amir Naderi, based on the 1953 dystopian novel by Ray Bradbury. It was filmed in the Canadian province of Ontario.

The cast includes Michael B. Jordan, Keir Dullea, Sofia Boutella, Michael Shannon, Martin Donovan, Khandi Alexander, Lilly Singh, and Grace Lynn Chung as Chairman Mao. The boring dud of a film “Fahrenheit 451” was a production of HBO Films and Outlier Society, and originally aired on HBO in May, 2018. It was nominated for five Emmy Awards – Outstanding television movie, Cinematography (Kramer Morgenthau), Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing.
