“Fastball” is a documentary film exploring the history and physics of baseball’s fastball pitch featuring interviews with major league baseball players and scientists. Director-writer Jonathan Hock did a good job with this absorbing examination of what is probably MLB’s most coveted pitch.
The interviewees include Nolan Ryan, Derek Jeter, Bob Gibson, Hank Aaron, Tony Gwynn, Ernie Banks, Goose Gossage, Justin Verlander, and Kevin Costner as the narrator. Archival footage of pitchers like Nolan Ryan, Sandy Koufax, Walter Johnson, and others were used. “Fastball” is a production of Major League Baseball Productions, Hock Films, and Legendary Entertainment.
