Get Out (2017)

My Review

“Get Out” is a psychological horror film about a young black man who discovers a disturbing secret when he visits the family of his white girlfriend. Director-screenwriter Jordan Peele, in his big screen debut, does an excellent job of orchestrating the unfolding drama in a suspenseful and engrossing manner throughout the film’s entire 104 minute running time. Alfred Hitchcock would be pleased.

The cast includes Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Bradley Whitford, Caleb Landry Jones, Stephen Root, Catherine Keener, Richard Herd, Lil Rey Howery, LaKeith Stanfield, Erika Anderson, Marcus Henderson, and Betty Gabriel. The watchable “Get Out” was a hit at the box office for Blumhouse Productions, Monkeypaw Productions, and Universal Pictures.

The film was nominated for four Academy Awards, winning one for Best Original Screenplay. Non-winners include Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor (Kaluuya). It was filmed in Alabama.
