My Review

“Get Smart” is comedy spy movie based on the situation comedy of the same name which ran on NBC for five seasons starting in 1965. Director Peter Segal (“Tommy Boy” 1995) retained much of the flavor and atmosphere of the original series, with a humor-filled screenplay by Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember.

The talented cast includes Steve Carell as Maxwell Smart, Anne Hathaway as Agent 99, Dwayne Johnson as Agent 23, Alan Arkin as The Chief, Terence Stamp as Siegfried, Terry Crews as Agent 91, David Koechner as Larabie, James Caan as the U. S. President, as well as Masi Oka, Bill Murray, Patrick Warburton, Larry Miller, Kevin Nealon, John Farley (brother of Chris Farley), and Bernie Kopell in a cameo appearance. Kopell was Ludwig Von Siegfried in the original show.

The watchable, humorous, and entertaining “Get Smart” was a big hit at the box office for Village Roadshow Pictures, Mosaic Media Group, Atlas Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Pictures. It was filmed in Los Angeles, London, and Montreal.
