My Review

“God’s Not Dead 2” is a Christian drama film about a high school history teacher who faces a career-ending lawsuit after answering a student’s question about Jesus. She was suspended from her teaching job after the school board accused her of bringing her religious beliefs into the classroom. She went on trial, with the heavy drama proceeding from there. Director Harold Cronk (“God’s Not Dead” 2014) and screenwriters Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman put together quite a riveting legal drama which holds viewers attention for the entire 120 minute running time.

The cast includes Melissa Joan Hart as teacher Grace Wesley, Jesse Metcalfe as her attorney, Hayley Orrantia and Sadie Robertson as students, Ernie Hudson as the judge, Pat Boone as Grace’s grandfather, Fred Dalton Thompson as her pastor, Robin Givens as the school principal, Ray Wise as the ACLU’s prosecuting attorney, Lee Strobel as a witness for the defense, and The Newsboys and Mike Huckabee in cameos as themselves. David A. R. White and Benjamin Onyango returned as Rev. Dave and Rev. Jude, respectively, who repeated their famous line “God is good all the time. All the time God is good.”

“God’s Not Dead 2” was a hit at the box office for producer David A. R. White, Pure Flix Entertainment, 10 West Studios, and Believe Entertainment. Other films in the franchise include “God’s Not Dead” (2014), “God’s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness” (2018), “God’s Not Dead: We the People” (2021), and “God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust” (2024).
