Hail, Caesar! (2016)

My Review

“Hail, Caesar!” is a comedy film which is a salute to Hollywood of the 1940’s and 1950’s. Directors-screenwriters Joel Coen and Ethan Coen have a spotty film which has some parts better than others. The good parts include an Esther Williams type of water ballet. Other parts are satirical comedy which falls on its face is not so funny and often dry.

Stars of the show include Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes, Jonah Hill, Scarlett Johansson, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Channing Tatum, Wayne Knight, Robert Picardo, Dolph Lundgren, Fisher Stevens, and Michael Gambon as the narrator. “Hail, Caesar!” was a flop at the box office for Working Title Films, Mike Zoss Productions, and Universal Pictures. It was filmed in and around the Los Angeles area.
