Heart of the Beast (2026)

My Review

Brad Pitt stars as a retired Special Forces veteran who must hike for 58 miles through the Alaska wilderness with his dog after their airplane crashes in the middle of nowhere. David Ayer (“The Beekeeper” 2024) put together a riveting drama with tight direction, good production values, and beautiful scenery in New Zealand substituting for Alaska. The cinematography was expertly handled by Mauro Fiore, with a lucid screenplay by Cameron Alexander.

Brad Pitt took up most of the screen time with four canines playing Odin the dog: Uber, Seeka, Ryker, and Hondo. The small supporting cast includes J. K. Simmons as a mountain man Pitt encounters early in the film and Anna Lambe coming in at the tail end of the picture. “Heart of the Beast” has seen modest success at the box office for producer Brad Pitt, Temple Hill Entertainment, Kino World, Wild Chickens Productions, and Paramount Pictures.
