Hopscotch (1980)

My Review

“Hopscotch” is a spy comedy film where a clever CIA operative is demoted by a superior and exacts revenge by writing a tell-all memoir exposing agency secrets. The revenge and hilarity proceed from there, well directed by Ronald Neame (“Meteor” 1979) from an acceptable screenplay by Brian Forbes and Brian Garfield. It was adapted from the 1975 novel of the same name by Garfield.

The cast includes Walter Matthau, Glenda Jackson, Sam Waterston, Herbert Lom, Ned Beatty, Lucy Saroyan, Severn Darden, and Allan Cuthbertson. The watchable “Hopscotch” was a flop at the box office for AVCO Embassy Pictures. It was filmed in England, Germany, Austria, France, Bermuda, Washington, D. C., and Atlanta, Georgia.
